William Alberty Sr. August 18, 1951 – July 11, 2022
William was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. He is survived by his son William Jr., his daughter Evelyn and her wife Michele, and his partner Susan Hacker. He worked for the NYC Transit Authority for over 30 years as a Tower Operator.
He loved his family, including his sisters, Rosalind Nespola “Bunny”, Gloria Conciatori “Cookie”, and his brother George Alberty, “The Big Bopper”. Along with his nieces and nephews, they shared many holidays, birthdays, and other celebrations together.
He grew up in the Bronx going on adventures to discover treasure or to fight bad guys with his brother Georgie and their dog Champ. He loved science and history and read many books on all different topics. He shared his love of music and reading with Evelyn and Billy. They have fond memories of him reading the Old Man and the Sea to them as children. They saw many concerts over the years together, favorites such as Billy Joel, the Rolling Stones, and Neil Young.
Bill loved to travel. He and Susan took many trips together including to Alaska and Hawaii with Billy and Evelyn. He could talk to anyone about any subject. He loved people and shooting the shit. He was both loved and sometimes feared by friends of Evelyn and Billy, and his booming voice will be remembered on the block.
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” -Dr. Seuss
