Vinny Catania retired as the ABC Video Recording Supervisor after working in the company for 40 plus years. During his time at the studio, Vinny was fortunate to work on the Olympics when ABC broadcasted the event. Reflective of his dedication and expertise, he won a well-deserved Emmy award for his work at the station.
Before ABC, while working at the Bendix corporation, Vinny created a computer chip used on airplanes. He was a true engineer: neat and precise in everything he strove to do.
In his personal life, Vinny attended P.S. 71 and Our Lady of the Assumption in the Bronx. When not working, Vinny enjoyed hiking, scuba diving, gardening, playing guitar, animals, and singing--including karaoke. As a big fan of the Beatles and all the 60s rock bands, he attended the Woodstock music festival. He also loved to travel and visited Morocco as a young man.
All his life, Vinny was devoted to his family, and a loving and dependable friend--always exhibiting a good sense of humor. He was a kind and caring man, gentle, affectionate, and quiet.
He was loved and respected by many and will be missed in his old neighborhood and wherever he touched the lives of those he met. He is survived by his loving sister, Catherine and brother- in- law Howard and his many dear friends and family.
