Spiro Lekka

Spiro Lekka, 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023. He is the son of the late Llambi Lekka and Agathi (Mitrokosta) Lekka.

Spiro was a beloved husband, son, brother, father and grandfather. His love for learning and self-improvement was contagious. He received a bachelor in Civil Engineering, he was the most intelligent and witty person in the room. He enjoyed reading, researching and writing about cultural and historical events for his hometown Lunxhëria.

His dear friend Spiro Xhavara and founder of the "Lunxhëria Association in Athens" wrote about him "I miss my dear Piro, everything seems empty after your passing and I don't know if I will be able to have such heartfelt conversations and such devoted studies about Qestorati and Lunxhëria (his hometown) as with you. I don't know if my hands will be able to flip through the books to see your autograph, that autograph that resembles an outstretched hand of a friend in undivided distress. Yes, dear Piro, we will never part, we will meet in the common thought, in the common dream, in our common love, until infinity. I will dedicate the first copy of the book "Mrekullia e Jugut - Lunxhëria Rrëza" soon to be published, where you have made a valuable contribution, to YOU, my good friend. May your memory be Eternal!".

Spiro is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Valentina (Zhidro), his loving children, Alfred Michali Lekka and Aurora Joanna Spahiu (husband Ervin), and his adored grandchildren, Emilia, Dion and Matteo. His presence will be forever missed by his family and friends but his memory will be a source of comfort and live on forever in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace. Relatives and friends are asked to attend his viewing on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Ralph Giordano Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
