In Memoriam: Phillip “Felipe” Marquez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phillip Marquez on September 8th, 2023, in the Bronx, New York. Born to Cornelius and Benigna Marquez in Manhattan, Phillip was raised in the heart of New York City alongside his beloved brothers, Francisco and Sonny.

In 1966, Phillip embarked on a journey of love and partnership, marrying Miguelina Rivera, with whom he shared 57 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they nurtured a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion.

Phillip was an engaging compassionate person who brought joy and laughter to the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His personable nature made him a cherished conversationalist, and his quick wit and penchant for pranks brought joy to his children and grandchildren.

A craftsman at heart, Phillip honed his skills in tool and die making, dedicating himself to the printing industry for many fruitful years. His mastery of machinery and keen repair abilities were admired by all who witnessed his work.

Phillip's Love for animals was passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was especially fond of dogs and his canine companions who shared his days were: Pluto, Willie, and most recently, Princess.

He had a deep appreciation for the arts, finding solace and joy in the harmonious notes of Jazz, the raw intensity of Boxing, and the timeless allure of Baseball. His love for games was boundless, whether hunched over dominos, engaging in a lively round of pool, or gathering for card games that brought the family together.

An avid reader, Phillip was a fount of knowledge, perusing multiple newspapers daily to stay abreast of the world around him. He loved to share his opinion and enjoyed engaging healthy discussions on a variety of topics.

Above all, Phillip Marquez was a cherished father and devoted husband. His presence brought light to the lives of all who had the privilege to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, and his absence will be deeply felt by his family and friends.

Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Miguelina; his adoring children, Lillian and Felipe(Jr.); his cherished grandchildren, Felipe(3rd.), Felicia, Marcus, Carly, and Gavin; and a community of friends and family who will forever hold him in their hearts.

A memorial service to celebrate Phillip's life will be held on September 14th 2023 between 4pm to 8pm at the Giordano Funeral Home located at 1727 Crosby Avenue, Bronx NY

May he rest in eternal peace, his memory forever a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
