Paulina Luca Menillo 11/2/27-12/23/23
Paulina Menillo was born into the Luca family on November 2nd 1927 in Calabria, Italy. She immigrated to this country at the age of 9 with her sister Albina and her mother Letizia to be rejoined with her father Salvatore and her brothers, Vincenzo (Louie) and Alfredo. Together they created the foundation for the nurturing of a large and loving family.
Paulina was a woman of her times. She had an eye for fashion and a knack for interior design, having graduated from Needle Trades High School in NYC, but her greatest skill was in seeing the possibilities in others. Often referred to as wise and empathetic, Paulina always sought to understand the unconventional view. Taking the part of the “underdog” was a phrase often used by her husband Frank when speaking of her.
Yet given all her creative designs, Paulina’s greatest work of art was her family. She took pride in her marriage to Frank of over 65 years and in her children and grandchildren. She volunteered at her children’s school and her church. But family to Paulina extended way beyond that, where in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors came under her wing. Paulina always had a seat at the table for anyone who wanted to be part of the Menillo family dinner. That was her gift…everyone belonged.
Her smile lit up a room and she will always be remembered in the arms of her husband gliding her along the dance floor as she glowed.
Paulina was adored by her husband Frank (deceased), her children, Steven and Alice, Greg and Kate, Karen and Doug (deceased), Francine and George, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
