From the moment Joe met Adele he knew he loved her and she would be his wife. They spent over 60 years together and had two beautiful daughters. He affectionately referred to Adele, Bridget and Liz as the three P’s: Picciotta, Papessa and Papasella. He also had two lovebirds named Sugar and Spice. His prized possession and an envy of many was his beautiful 1956 two tone green Ford Fairlane with white wall tires. He also built a beautiful home which he called Villa Iuliano.
Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He was also an ideal son to his parents.
Joe loved everyone and always greeted company with a shining smile and an invitation to sit at the table for coffee and migliaccio at “Adele’s Café.” He listened to everyone’s stories without judgement and was fair when giving advice. He never had a bad word to say about anyone.
He loved dancing with Adele at every event they attended and enjoyed a whiskey sour or two, which made him very amorous requesting a rendition of “O Sole Mio” to be sung for the Italian people. He enjoyed going mushroom hunting with his in-laws almost as much as he enjoyed the slot machines at the casino. In his younger years, he played the accordion at family events while they gathered, danced, and put on a talent show.
August was his birthday month and tomato time but the real festivity was March 19th, St. Joseph’s Day, where family gathered around for a pastry competition of who bought the best St. Joseph’s pastry.
Throughout the years Joe volunteered for the St. Theresa Feast and was a member of the Montevergine Society where he offered his services for charitable events.
Joe loved everybody and everybody loved him. Now he leaves to join his true love Adele in Heaven. May they rest together in eternal peace.
