Jennie F Del Vecchio

EASTCHESTER, NY – Jennie DelVecchio, 100, passed away May 22, 2024, just a few weeks short of turning 101 years old.  Her son, John, and granddaughter, Audra, were at her side. 

Jennie lived life enthusiastically. In her day, she loved to dance, bake and travel.  Her favorite travel destinations were Florida, California and Italy, where she could brush up on speaking Italian.  She spent years working in Westchester bakeries delighting customers with her carrot and lemon cakes and sfogliatelle specialites. She loved sharing her baked creations with her family and friends.  

Jennie was the quintessential ‘sports mom’.  She was a regular at neighborhood games watching her sons, Manny and John, compete.  She thought of the boys’ friends as her own kids, so she had many to cheer for and many more snacks to pack.  As an equal opportunity observer, she also enthusiastically attended all her granddaughter’s sporting events. 

Jennie spent her whole life in the Eastchester area, so she became a beloved fixture in the community, offering years of service to the American Legion, even serving as President.  She enjoyed working Eastchester voting polls into her 80s.

Her family marked her 100 years with a grand birthday party, with friends and family coming from as far away as Canada to celebrate Jennie. 

Jennie was born on June 24, 1923, daughter of Antoinette and Felice Perrino.  

She married Emanuel DelVecchio the day after Christmas in 1944. 

Survivors include son John DelVecchio, granddaughter Audra Martucci, her husband Peter, and great grandchildren Nicholas, Peter Jr., Patricia and Christine. 

Jennie was pre-deceased by her husband, Emanuel, son Manny, brothers Anthony and Frank, and sister Josephine.  

There is NO VISITATION. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 8 Carman Road, Scarsdale, NY on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11 a.m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ralph Giordano Funeral Home.  Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
