Domenico Romeo

Domenico Romeo, age 89, of Bronx, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Montefiore (Wakefield) of Bronx, NY.  Domenico was born May 19,1934, in Mandatoriccio, Cosenza, Italy. He is the son of the late Rocco Cataldo and the late Ermenzina (Verrina) Romeo. 

Mr. Romeo, who served as an Italian Merchant Marine migrated to the United States of America and  through his hard work, provided a beautiful and better life for his family. 

He worked in the garment industry in several roles at places such as Calvin Klein, managed a rental property and took on odd jobs. He enjoyed making wine, playing cards and checkers, and eating a good home cooked meal. 

Mr. Romeo was also a devout and practicing Catholic, always making an effort to attend Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Carmel Church in the Bronx.

He is survived by his devoted wife of over 60 years, Lucia (Arcangelo), his loving children, Nancy (Bob) Roberts, Elvira Romeo, and Rosetta (Chris) Cannella, and his adored grandchildren, Alessia, Giancarlo, Sofia, and Luca, And his siblings, Rosina, Emilio and Vera.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Francesco, Giuseppe, Giovanni Turiaci, Mario and Gabriele.

He is also sadly predeceased by his loving granddaughter, Jenna..

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Ralph Giordano Funeral Home on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2nd, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 627 East 187th Street, Bronx, N.Y. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery (Our Lady of Hope Crypts), Hawthorne, NY, on Saturday, September 2nd, at 11:00 a.m.
