Michael Talarico Obituary

Michael Talarico came from humble beginnings from a small town, Lapano, Calabria, Italy.

He was the youngest of 5 brothers, Carmine, Edgidio, Giovanni, and Mario.

Mike immigrated to the United States in 1946 at the age of 14, where he attended high school in Manhattan and then became a tailor’s apprentice to learn his trade.

He became the head tailor at Saks 5th Avenue, where he tailored for some of the Stars, including Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Henry Kissinger, George Steinbrenner, and a few other Mafiosa. It was at Saks that he met the love of his life, his beloved Teresa.

Mike was a devout husband to Teresa, and caring father to Maria, Pauline, and Dominick. He provided for them, as well as his mother and brothers, as he made a promise to his father to care for them too. He was also a beloved father-in-law to Louis, Gregory, and Laura.

He was loved by his brothers and sisters-in-law and by his many nieces and nephews.

He loved, adored, and was extremely proud of all his grandchildren, Victoria, Amanda, Stephanie, Dominick, Natalie, Gabrielle, and Louis-Michael. He encouraged each of them to reach their goals and loved when they sang and played for him.

Mike was passionate for gardening. He had the best garden in the Bronx - one ton tomatoes, string beans longer than shoe laces, and a cucuzza you would not believe!

He liked his wine, playing cards with his brothers-in-laws, watching bocce in the park with his friends, and of course he relaxed with his pack of Winstons.
